The Emory University men's and women's country teams return to action on Saturday (Oct. 29) when they compete at the 25th Annual University Athletic Association Cross Country Championships.  The competition will be held at Montrose Harbor and hosted by the University of Chicago.  The women's 6K race begins at 10:30 am (CDT), and will be followed by the men's 8k competition at 11:30 am.

The Emory women's team is ranked 19th nationally and one of a five league teams that hold down spots among the nation's top 35.  Defending league champion Washington University is tabbed as the No. 2 squad in D-III with Emory the next ranked conference program. Other teams in the national poll include New York University (#26), Chicago (#33) and Case Western (#35).  Last year, the Eagles posted a fifth-place finish with Tess Gallegos and the graduated Natalie Fenn both earning Second Team All-UAA honors and coming in eighth and 14th overall, respectively.

The UAA boasts four men's teams among the top 35 in the nation, with three of those squads among the top 15. Defending champ Wash U. is No. 3 while Chicago holds down the No. 10 slot.  Rounding out the ranked teams are NYU (#15) and Rochester (#27).   Emory, ranked No. 1 in South/Southeast Region, is looking to move up the ladder after recording an eighth-place finish in 2010.
