Emory Cross Country Teams To Compete At Charlotte Invitational

After a week off, the Emory University men's and women's cross country teams resume action on Saturday (Sept. 28) when they compete in the eighth annual Charlotte Invitational at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte.   McAlpine Creek Park plays host to the Charlotte Invitational for the fifth time of its existence.

One of the fastest growing meets in the Southeast, this year’s Invitational features 34 women’s teams and 29 men’s.  NCAA Divisions I, II and III programs will be represented, and because of the large number of teams competing, the meet will be split into four races, including men’s and women’s gold races as well as men’s and women’s non-scoring “green” races. The meet kicks off at 8:45 a.m. with the women’s 6K “gold” race, with the men’s 8K “gold” event following at 9:20 a.m.

In their most recent outings, the Emory women’s squad, ranked 33rd nationally, captured first place in the Division II, III and NAIA competition at the Furman Classic (Sept. 14) while the men’s side claimed runner-up honors out of 16 squads.
