Emory Cross Country Teams Focus Upon UAA Championships

The Emory University men's and women's country teams return to action on Saturday (Nov. 2) when they compete in the 27th Annual University Athletic Association Cross Country Championships.  The competition will be held at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, PA.  The women's 6K race begins at 11:00 am, and will be followed by the men's 8k competition at noon.

Both races will feature some of the top talent in the Division III ranks with six men’s and women’s program’s garnering recognition in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Top 35 Poll. On the women’s side, NYU holds the highest national spot at No. 8 and is followed by No. 9 and defending league champ Chicago and No. 10 Washington University.  Other ranked squads include Case (No. 20), Brandeis (No. 33) and Rochester (No. 34).  Last year, Emory finished seventh at the league championship.

Two UAA men’s teams are in the national top 10, No. 2 and three-time defending conference champ Wash U, and No. 7 NYU.  Other ranked teams hitting the course on Saturday include No. 14 Chicago, No. 26 Carnegie Mellon, No. 31 Rochester and No. 35 Case Western.  The Eagle men came away with a seventh-place showing at last year’s UAA meet.
