Sophomore Grant Murphy came through with an outstanding
performance in helping the men's cross country team to a
first-place finish at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional
Championships and an automatic berth to the NCAA Championships,
Nov. 22, in Mason, Ohio.
Murphy was the first Eagle and sixth overall out of 201 runners,
clocking a personal-best 8K time of 25:41. Murphy's effort
represented the first time as an Eagle that he ranked as the team's
top runner and helped the team claim four of the top 13 finishers.
By virtue of his finish, he captured all-region
accolades.
Emory topped the 28-team field with 62 points and brought home its
first regional title since the 2009 season.
