Emory University junior Lukas Mees (Marion, IA) has been named by the University Athletic Association as Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week following his performance at JSU Foothills Invitational in Oxford, Alabama.   It is the first time in his career that he has been chosen for the award.

Mees helped the squad to a first-place finish in the White Division of the Invitational, clocking a personal-best 8K time of 25:38 that placed second in a 58-runner field.  It was the second straight meet that Mees had ranked as the Eagles No. 1 performer, and helped spearhead a strong overall effort by Emory with three of the top eight overall finishers.

Emory returns to action on October 18 when it travels to Ohio to participate in Oberlin College's Inter-Regional Rumble.
