After a week off from competition, the Emory men's and women's cross country teams resume action on Friday (Sept. 25) when they compete in the 10th annual Charlotte Invitational at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte, North Carolina. McAlpine Creek Park plays host to the Charlotte Invitational for the seventh time of its existence.
This year’s Invitational will feature approximately 16 men’s teams and 14 women’s squads. A number of Division I programs will be in the field including host Charlotte, Davidson University, College of Charleston and UNC-Greensboro. The women’s 6K race is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m., with the men’s 8K event beginning at 6:10 p.m. Prior to the college competitions, both boys and girls high school meets will be held.
In their most recent outings, the Eagle women’s squad, ranked 25th nationally, captured first place in a 22-team field in the Division II, III and NAIA competition at the Furman Classic (Sept. 12) while the No. 33rd-ranked men’s side claimed third place out of 19 squads. The new national polls will be released on Wednesday, Sept. 23.
