The Emory University men's and women's cross country teams return to action on Saturday (Sept. 17) when they compete in the Falcon Classic. The meet will be held at the University of Montevallo (AL) Campus Course with the men’s 8k race starting at 8:00 am (CDT) followed by the women’s 6k competition at 8:45 a.m.
A number of programs from the South Region will be represented including Auburn-Montgomery, Birmingham Southern, Lee University, Troy University, West Alabama, Montevallo and Queens College (NC).
The women’s team is ranked 17th in the Sept. 14 national poll released by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), up four spots from the preseason poll, while the men’s side is slotted in the 33rd spot. The women are ranked first in the South/Southeast Region and the men are second.
Both squads are coming off strong showings at the Furman Classic last weekend. The women registered a second-place finish out of 18 teams while the men registered a sixth-place effort out of 23 programs.
