Emory Cross Country Teams Wrap Up Bobcat Invitational

RESULTS

The Emory men’s and women’s cross country teams participated at the Bobcat Invitational on Saturday.  The meets were held on The Farm Course in Milledgeville, Ga., with Georgia College serving as the host institution.

The Emory men’s side posted a seventh-place finish out of 18 teams, finishing with 196 points.  UNC Pembroke claimed the top spot with 59 points while Alabama-Huntsville was runner-up with 71 points. Augusta (80 pts.), Montevallo (106 pts.) and Tampa (110 pts.) rounded out the top five. Pacing the Emory pack was sophomore John Cox with an 8K time of 26:18, good for 27th place out of 162 runners.   Sophomore Jonathan Rosenfeld was the second Eagle to cross the finish line and 42nd overall after clocking a 26:38.   Sophomores Bobby Wilson (26:41) and Matthew Burke (26:42) ranked 44th and 45th, respectively, while freshman Jon Marcus closed out the squad’s scorers with an effort of 26:51 that slotted him 52nd.

The women’s unit raced to a fifth-place performance out of 19 teams, tallying 175 points.  Division I member Florida State held down the No. 1 position with 47 points with Alabama-Huntsville close behind at 59 points.  Montevallo brought home a third-place finish (99 pts) and host Georgia College was fourth (132 pts.).  Freshman Zoe Friedman paced the Emory contingent and was 15th overall out of 142 runners with a 6K time of 23:21.  Senior Paige Lesslauer was second on the team and 42nd on the finishing board at 24:50 while Lauren Rodriguez clocked a 24:56.5 that ranked 44th. Junior Ileana Zeissner (24:56, 45th) and sophomore Amanda Li (25:13, 55th place) closed out the team’s scorers.

Next up for Emory cross country are next Sunday’s (Oct. 28) University Athletic Association Championships in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
