Emory Softball Adds Commitment For 2011-12

Emory head softball coach Penny Siqueiros has announced that Brooke Healey (Highlands Ranch, CO) will be enrolling at Emory in the fall of 2011 and be competing for the 2012 Eagles' softball program.

Healey joins the Emory program after a four-year career at Mountain Vista High School where she played for head coach Bret Grammerstorf.  A versatile performer, she logged action at third base, second base, short stop and outfield throughout her high school career.   She helped lead the team to three consecutive district championships, four class 5A state championships appearances, and a state semi-final appearance in 2008.  The team captain her senior year, she hit .531, and leaves Mountain Vista as the record holder in both season and career steals, batting average, runs scored, and career assists and fielding percentage. A two-time All Conference recipient, she was awarded first-team All Conference as a senior and was also chosen a member of the Colorado Coaches of Girls Sports All-State Team.

Brooke plays travel ball for the Colorado Stampede 18A/Gold. She helped the team to a Colorado state championship last summer, as well as a championship at the Triple Crown World Series in Park City, Utah, and a top-10 finish at the ASA 18A Nationals in Hemet, California.

Healy joins Micah Scharff (St. Louis, MO), Ellen Shapiro (Carmel, IN), Ann Ryan (Oak Park, IL) and Moira Sullivan (Marietta, GA) as newcomers to the Emory program in 2011-12.
