Sophomore catcher Micah Scharff posted a
batting average of .438 for the Eagles at the NCAA Division III
Salem, Virginia, Regional.
Scharff hit safely in four of the team's five contests and smacked
a team-high four doubles while tying for the club's lead with seven
hits. In Emory's 8-2 win over Christopher Newport, she led
off the fifth inning with a two-base hit and scored the team's
first run. In what proved to be the team's final contest of
the campaign, she went 3-for-3 at the plate with one RBI in a 7-6
setback against Piedmont College.
Scharff ended the 2013 season by appearing in all 47 of Emory's
games, 43 in a starting capacity, and hit .333 with 45 hits (second
on the team) in 135 plate appearances. She recorded 28 RBIs
and topped the club with 16 doubles.
