Emory Softball Senior Day Sees Eagles Take Two From Middle Georgia

Emory Softball Senior Day Sees Eagles Take Two From Middle Georgia

The Emory softball team enjoyed a fun and productive Senior Day on Sunday, with the Eagles winning a pair of encounters against Middle Georgia State College.  The Eagles won the opener in five innings, 9-1, before posting a five-inning, 11-2 triumph in the finale.  The contests against the Knights did not figure into Emory's overall record and statistics.

Sophomore Hannah Sendel hit a three-run homer in the first inning and senior Megan Light went 3-for-3 with an RBI to spark the opening-game victory.  Senior left fielder Ally Kersthold collected a pair of hits in three plate appearances including a bases-loaded triple in the bottom of the fifth that closed the game out.  Senior pitcher Amanda Kardys tossed all five innings, allowing five hits and striking out two batters.

Emory pounded out 14 hits in the second games with five players hitting safely twice.  Sendel finished 2-for-3 with three RBIs including a two-run homer as part of an eight-run third frame.  Light and senior Claire Bailey each chipped in two ribbies while junior Moira Sullivan knocked in three runs. Freshman Brittany File allowed just one hit over her five innings of work, fanning five and not issuing any walks.

The Eagles resume regular-season action on Saturday (Apr. 18) when they play a doubleheader at Maryville College.
