Megan Light Named UAA Softball Hitter Of The Week

Emory University senior Megan Light (Atlanta, GA) has been selected as the University Athletic Association's Softball Hitter of the Week after helping the Eagles to a 4-0 record in games vs. Covenant College and Piedmont College. It is the sixth time during her career that she has been chosen for the honors.

Light hit .667 with a team-high nine hits in 15 plate appearances, and accounted for both of the team's home runs while driving in a club-best nine runs over the four-game stretch. In a 9-2 triumph over Covenant, she went four-for-four at the plate with six RBIs and three runs scored. After knocking in the team's second run of the game with a double, Light socked a two-run homer in the fifth, her school-record 13th of the year, that stretched the Eagles' lead to 6-0 and followed that with a three-run round tripper the following frame that closed out the game's scoring. In the nightcap vs. the Lady Scots, a 9-1 Emory triumph, she hit safely on three occasions in four plate appearances, with all of her hits doubles, and drove in three runs, her 17th multiple-RBI outing of the year.

In the opening game against No. 7 Piedmont, she helped Emory to a 7-0 decision by going 2-for-4, extending her hitting streak to 17 games in the process, and scoring a run.

On the year, Light is hitting at a .488 clip with 59 hits in 121 at-bats. She paces the squad in home runs (14), RBIs (56), runs scored (48), total bases (120) and slugging percentage (.992) and is tied for first with 14 doubles.

The No. 16-ranked Eagles, 36-5 on the year, return to action on Saturday (Apr. 18) when they play a doubleheader at Maryville College.
