The No. 7 Emory softball team continues its run in the NCAA D-III Championships this Friday and Saturday when it travels to the Tyler, Texas Super Regional.
The Eagles will meet No. 2-ranked UT-Tyler in a best-of-three series with the winner advancing to the Championships, May 21-26, in Salem, Virginia. Serving as the venue for the Super Regional will be Suddenlink Field on the UT-Tyler campus, with the first game starting at 5:00 pm (CDT). The second game of the series will start at 1:00 pm on Saturday, with a third contest, if necessary, slated for a 3:30 pm first pitch.
Emory stands 34-7 after hosting and winning all three games at the Atlanta Regional over the weekend. The Eagles opened with a 2-0 triumph over LaGrange on Friday before nipping Averett University, 1-0, on Saturday. On Sunday, Emory clinched the title when junior Hannah Sendel socked a two-run homer in the top of the eighth inning, snapping a 2-2 deadlock and giving the Eagles a 4-2 triumph over Berry College.
The Patriots, 45-3, hosted regional play over the weekend, and had to fight off three elimination games to advance to the Super Regional. On Sunday, UT-Tyler defeated No. 3-ranked East Texas Baptist twice to keep its season alive.
