Former Softball Standout Janelle Turnquest Featured in UAA's Conversations About Race And Racism Series

Janelle Turnquest has followed her Emory softball playing career by becoming a program manager senior analyst at Cigna in Houston, TX. A team member from 2015-18, Janelle was a .301 career hitter, playing in 141 games and 112 as a starter, helping the Eagles to three NCAA postseason berths including a College World Series appearance in 2016. A UAA First Team and NFCA All-Atlantic Region Second Team selection as a sophomore, she finished her career fourth on the program’s all-time home run list with 21, was 11th in career runs batted in with 108 and was ninth all-time with a career slugging percentage of .575.

The UAA “Conversations About Race and Racism” series seeks to lift the voices of people of color and recognize the challenges faced in both athletics and academics at the collegiate level. By sharing personal stories, we hope to elevate the conversation about race to raise awareness and bring about change.
