Returning to the Emory softball program as assistant coach for the 2010-11 season is Gary Anderson. 

Anderson is no stranger to the Eagles' program, having served as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Emory University softball program from 2002-2009.  While helping guide the Eagles to three appearances in the NCAA College World Series Tournament, Coach Anderson and the Emory staff were recognized as the NFCA Atlantic Region Coaching Staff of the Year three times and Conference Coaching Staff of the Year.

Before joining the Emory University coaching staff, Anderson was the head softball coach at Agnes Scott College from 2000-2002 where he was responsible for all administrative, recruiting, and coaching duties associated with the softball program.

During the 2009-10 season, he served as head coach at Spelman College in Atlanta.

In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, Anderson continues to serve as an assistant coach at Decatur High School (GA).  Anderson owned and operated a professional instruction center for both softball and baseball players, and served as an associate scout for the Atlanta Braves.  Anderson has coached travel softball with various local softball programs, including: Browns Mill, Atlanta Vipers, East Cobb, and the Georgia Impact.

Anderson attended the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff on a football scholarship and received his bachelor's degree from Columbus College in 1979. Coach Anderson performed graduate studies at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville.
