Roger Fannon has served as assistant coach of the Emory softball
team since the 2008-09 school year.
Fannon's primary duties is working with outfielders and he
also serves as the recruiting coordinator. In addition,
he assists with scheduling, practice planning, travel
and coaching hitters. Fannon helped guided Emory to the
2010 UAA conference championship, the program's first league crown
since, 2003. In his initial season, the Eagles
landed a spot in the NCAA Tournament and
Fannon was a member of the 2009 UAA Coaching Staff
of the Year.
No stranger to the game, Fannon coached softball, baseball and
tennis for 33 years at five different high schools. He has
won seven region championships and been to the final
four on three occasions, and been named AAA Region Coach
of the year five times. . He also served as a region
representative for softball for 10 years and his high school teams
accumulated over 355 victories.
Fannon also built and maintained two high school baseball
fields and two high school softball complexes. He has operated
a softball coaching clinic for community coaches each year and
conducted a camp for players age 8 through 13 years as a
fund-raising project and a learning tool for current players.
Fannon graduated from Ball State University (IN) with a B.S. degree in 1975 and an M.S. degree in 1978. He received his Ed. Specialist degree from Georgia State University in 1987.
He has been married to wife Margie for 37 years and they have one daughter, Megan.
