GAME FACTS - The Emory women's basketball team
winds up the home portion of its schedule this weekend when it
hosts a pair of University Athletic Association foes. On
Friday, the Eagles entertain New York University in a 6:00 p.m. tip
before taking on Brandeis Sunday afternoon starting at 2:00
p.m.
Friday will be Senior Night with the program recognizing the
four-year contributions of Whitney Martin, Keenan Whitesides and
Mary Smith. Sunday afternoon will be the "Think Pink" game
with the Emory athletic department taking part in the fight against
breast cancer.

THE COACHES - Emory Head Coach Christy
Thomaskutty (Tulane, '96) is in her seventh season at the
helm of the program. She assumed her current duties prior to
the start of the 2003-04 campaign.
Stefano Trompeo (Florida, 2003) is in his second
year as the head coach at NYU and has compiled a school and career
won-lost mark of 36-14. Last year, Trompeo guided the Violets
to a 23-5 record that included a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
In her 23rd campaign at the helm of the Brandeis program is
Carol Simon (Colby College, 1985). During
her tenure with the Judges, she has manufactured a total of 334
victories.
2009-10 RECORDS - Emory will meet NYU with an
overall record of 9-13, 2-9 in the UAA. Last weekend, the
Eagles dropped road decisions to Carnegie Mellon (64-60, in
overtime) and Case Western (66-57).
NYU enters Friday's game with an overall record of 13-9, 5-6
in the league. The Violets will be aiming to get back into
the win column after suffering defeats to Chicago (73-52) and
Washington University (58-50).
Heading into a Friday game at Rochester, Brandeis owns an overall
slate of 13-8 and stands 6-5 in the UAA. The Judges came out
on the short end of a pair of contests last week, 50-37 to
Washington University and 49-47 to Chicago.
SERIES RECORDS - NYU claims a 33-9 edge in the
all-time series with Emory. The Violets won the initial
meeting of this season, 59-55, in New York.
Emory posts a 22-20 all-time record vs. Brandeis that includes a
73-65 triumph in Waltham, MA, earlier this season. Emory has
won 12 of the 21 games played on its home floor.
EMORY DUO TO SERVE AS CAPTAINS - Serving as
captain of the 2009-10 Emory team are seniors Whitney
Martin (Barrington, IL) and Keenan
Whitesides (Wilmington, NC).
MARTIN AMONG UAA LEADERS - Whitney
Martin continues to pace the team in a number of
statistical categories while maintaining a presence among UAA
leaders.
Martin's team-high 11.3 per-game overall scoring average is eighth
on the league's chart while her 6.4 per-game in rebounding is also
eighth. In addition, the Barrington, Ill., native is
11th in field goal shooting (.420) and eighth in blocked
shots (0.9 bpg).
Martin has led the club in scoring in six games and has paced the
team in rebounding on 12 occasions. She has scored in double
figures in 14 games this year, and has picked off six or more
rebounds in 14 affairs.
NOTES - Entering this weekend, Martin holds
down the No. 12 spot on the Eagles' all-time list with 481 rebounds
... Martin enters her final home weekend of action having played 93
games during her career, 53 as a starter ... She has chalked up 82
blocked shots during her four years, good for the No. 2 spot on the
school's all-time chart ... Senior Keenan
Whitesides posted a team-high 11 points in the Case
Western game, the fourth time this year she had paced the club in
scoring and her ninth double-digit game ... Entering Friday's
contest, Whitesides has appeared in 73 games as an Eagle and has
drawn all 22 of her starts during the 2009-10 campaign ...
Mary Smith, another Emory senior who is hitting
the Woodpec floor for her final games, has seen action in 96
outings and has drawn 35 starting assignments ... Sophomore
Melissa Koike tied Liz Brandt for the team's
scoring lead with 12 points against Carnegie Mellon, her second
double-figure effort this season ... Brandt's Carnegie outing
represented her fourth double-figure scoring effort of the year ...
Emory tied its team high with 14 steals in the Carnegie Mellon
contest and followed that with a 10-theft performance against Case
Western ... The Eagles have record double-figure steals in 11 games
... Freshman Danielle Landry has paced the
team in rebounding in a total of six games this year ...Whitesides
is shooting 46.3 percent from the floor (82-of-177), good for a
third-place tie among UAA players ... Landry is second on the team
and 19th among UAA cagers in rebounding (5.3 rpg) ...
Emory is 8-1 this season leading at halftime, 1-11 when trailing at
the break and 0-1 when the games is tied at halftime.
