As part of the 2011 THINK PINK campaign, the Emory Eagles will
be hosting the University of Chicago, on February 13,
2011. It is the culmination of events that is
designated as THINK PINK week. The Eagles will be wearing
their custom pink uniforms sponsored by Russell Athletic.
All week, from Monday, February 7 - Friday February 11, there will
be the sale of Breast Cancer Awareness items and ribbons at the
Dobbs University Center. It's all part of Emory athletics'
fundraising campaign to raise money for breast cancer research at
the Winship Cancer Institute and Emory Department of Surgery,
Breast Cancer Research Program. Other events on campus are
planned, and aimed to gather support from the entire Emory
Community.
On Saturday, February 12 the Student Programming Council (SPC) and
Emory Athletics will be hosting a Pink Tie Affair. This
casual semi-formal type of event is free of charge and open to
everyone. The event will be located at the Cox Hall Ballroom
from 8pm-12am. This event will allow for a focus on the great
facilities and wonderful research that is being done right on the
campus of Emory University. There will be food, drink,
dancing as well as prizes. As a means to raise additional
money for Breast Cancer research at Emory, pink bow-ties and
scarves will be on sale and recommended to be worn during the
event.
Finally, all the events will culminate into the final THINK PINK
basketball game when the Emory's women's squad hosts the
University of Chicago at the Woodruff PE Centers on Sunday, Feb.
13, at 2:00 p.m. The men's game will preceed that contest
starting at noon. Everyone is asked to wear pink to this
game in support of the fight against breast cancer. The first
500 fans to the game will receive a free Emory Eagles Think Pink
T-shirt. Free food, giveaways and entertainment will
accompany the game. At half-time, we will honor the families
that are affected by the disease as well as many survivors that
will be joining us.
Everyone is invited to join us in this celebration. The event
is free and donations will be accepted. The Emory Eagles want
to "pink out" the arena and everyone's support is needed to
accomplish that.
