Sophomore Shellie Kaniut turned in a strong all-around
performance in sparking the Emory women's basketball team to a win
in its only action of the week.
Kaniut totaled a game-high 19 points and added three assists along
with a game-leading four steals in leading the Eagles to a 68-45
victory over Sewanee. Kaniut converted a career-high tying
eight field goals in 11 attempts, including three-of-four from
three-point range, in registering her fourth double-figure scoring
performance of the season. Her four steals represented the
fifth time this season that she had finished with multiple thefts
and boosted her team-leading total to 18.
Through games played Dec. 7, Kaniut stands seventh in the UAA in
scoring (13.3 ppg), and second in both steals average (3.0 spg) and
three-point shooting percentage (.481, 13-of-27).
