Junior Khadijah Sayyid paced the team in scoring and was second
in rebounding as the Emory women's basketball team split a pair of
UAA home contests.
Sayyid averaged 17.0 points and 5.0 rebounds as the Eagles topped
Brandeis, 67-61, on Friday before coming up short by a 67-60 count
to No. 8 NYU on Sunday.
Sayyid led all players in scoring with 16 points, while grabbing
five boards, in the Brandeis contest before producing a
game-leading 18 points and five boards in the NYU game.
Sayyid connected on seven-of-13 from the floor against NYU,
including three-of-four from beyond the arc, en route to her 15th
double-figure scoring performance of the season.
Through games played Feb. 8, Sayyid leads the team and ranks fourth
among UAA in scoring with a 14.8 points-per-game average. In
addition, she is sixth in three-point percentage (.378, 31-of-82)
and second in steals (2.6 spg).
