Senior Shellie Kaniut ranked as the leading scorer for the Emory women's basketball team in a victory over the University of Rochester in the regular-season finale.
Kaniut rang up 20 points and finished with seven rebounds and three steals as the Eagles posted a 73-57 decision over the Yellowjackets. She converted a career-high tying 10 field goals in 17 attempts in registering her 18th double-figure scoring performance of the year and sixth of 20 or more points. It represented the 10th time this season that she ranked as the Eagles' top point producer.
Kanuit, a starter in 22 of the 24 games she appeared in, ended the year ranked second on the club and eighth among UAA players in overall scoring average with a 14.6 points-per-game average. Her 15.4 per-game effort in conference play also ranked eighth among the league leaders.
Career-wise, Shellie finished 10th all-time at Emory in career scoring with 946 points and eighth with 166 steals.
