Molly Weiss' Career Night Helps No. 22/25 Women's Basketball Win Eighth Straight; Downs CMU 55-43

A career-high 15 points by junior Molly Weiss helped the No. 22/25 ranked Emory University women's basketball stay perfect in the UAA, leading the Eagles to a 55-43 victory over Carnegie Mellon University Friday evening at the WoodPEC in Atlanta.

Weiss sank a career-best five three-pointers as Emory ran its winning streak to eight games, tied for the longest win streak during Misha Jackson's tenure as head coach. The Eagles, 4-0 in UAA play and 13-2 overall, are now in sole possession of first place in the conference following CWRU's 28-point loss to Rochester on Friday. The Spartans (8-7, 3-1 UAA) will visit Atlanta Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM. The unblemished UAA mark also represents the third 4-0 start to UAA play in team history and the second under Coach Jackson.

Sophomore Tori Huggins joined Weiss in double-digits as the 6-1 forward collected her sixth double-double of the year, totaling 10 points and tying a career-high with 14 rebounds. She added a game-high four blocks for good measure. Fellow sophomore Anna Arato was third in team scoring with nine points and senior Erin Lindahl had eight points and grabbed seven rebounds. Sophomore Kennedy Cater lead all players, dishing out a career-best five assists.

An 8-0 run to end the first half which included two triples by Weiss helped Emory build a 26-20 lead at the break. The Eagles took advantage from long distance in the third quarter to put the game away, hitting three in a row with two as the shot clock expired to help build a 14-point advantage.

The Eagles held CMU to 34.9% shooting from the floor (15-for-43) and 1-for-8 from distance. Caitlyn Clendenin led all Tartans with 11 points while Megan Jaeb tallied nine off the bench. In contrast, the Eagles made nine from behind the arc with Arato and Lindahl each sinking a pair coupled with Weiss' five treys.

Friday marked the fifth time this season that Emory has held its opponents under 45 points for the game.
