Women's Basketball Looks to Bounce Back at Home Against #13/21 Chicago and WashU

After seeing its nine-game winning streak snapped last weekend at nationally ranked Chicago and WashU, the Emory University women's basketball team returns to the Woodruff PE Center looking to bounce back against the very same Maroons and Bears squads.

Tip-off against No. 13/21 ranked Chicago is set for 6:00 PM Friday night with action beginning at 2:00 PM Sunday afternoon versus WashU. Sunday afternoon will double as the Eagles' annual Think Pink game in support of Breast Cancer Awareness with the team donning pink uniforms.

Through the first half of the UAA slate, Chicago finds itself a game in first place at 6-1 (15-3 overall) with Emory (14-4, 5-2 UAA) in a two-way tie for second place with Case Western Reserve (10-8, 5-2 UAA). NYU rounds out the top four, sitting at 4-3 in league play and 14-4 overall.

The Eagles dropped out of both national rankings due to the losses a week ago but are still receiving votes in both polls. Chicago moved up two spots in both polls with a 2-0 week while the Bears are unranked, sitting in fifth place in the UAA at 3-4 and 10-8 overall but are also coming off a 2-0 weekend.

Eagle Notes

Senior Allison Chernow has shined through the first seven conference games, racking up double figures in five of the seven contests including three 20-plus point efforts and averaging 15.0 points per game in conference. In addition, Chernow has dished out a team-best 23 assists while grabbing 4.3 rebounds per game in UAA action.

Senior Erin Lindahl chalked up 14 and 16 points at Chicago and WashU, upping her team leading points per game average to 12.0 which is good for 11th among conference leaders.  She enters Friday's matchup just 22 points shy of becoming the 11th member of the Eagles' 1,000-point club.

Classmate Lindsey Tse maintained her Division III lead in the Assist-to-Turnover category with six assists to just one turnover in her last two contests, increasing her nation-leading mark to 4.50. The second closest figure is Augsburg's Arianna Jones with 3.95 while third is Trinity's Julia Ackerman at 3.22. Chernow joins Tse in the top-30 in the stat category, placing 30th at 1.93 as of Thursday.

Junior Blair Ripley was force defensively in Chicago and St. Louis, totaling six blocks including a season-high four swats against WashU as she moved into a tie for third place on the school's all-time ledger with Coach Jackson at 95 in her career. Next up, is Alicia Moore who finished her career in 1998 with 104 rejections.
