The Emory women's basketball team came through with a stifling defensive effort that resulted in a school record for steals as the Eagles captured a 59-55 win at home over Carnegie Mellon University.  The victory was Emory's fourth in a row and boosted its overall record to 12-3.

While the Tartans outshot Emory from the floor and held an edge in the rebounding department, they were hampered by 34 turnovers that Emory turned into 31 points.  The Eagles harassed CMU throughout the evening and established a school game record with 26 steals with Savannah Morgan, Hannah Lilly, Melissa Koike and Danielle Landry all ending the night with five thefts.

Offensively, Lilly shouldered much of the scoring load for Emory, racking up a game-high 26 points on 10-of-17 field goal shooting, including six-of-11 from three-point range. Morgan and Misha Jackson each chipped in eight points while Danielle Landry snatched a team-high nine rebounds.

A bucket by Landry with 18:25 left in the game gave Emory what would be its largest lead of the night, 43-35. However, CMU responded with a 12-1 scoring spree, capped by a pair of free throws by Peel, to take a 47-44 lead with 12:19 left in the game.   From there, Emory would score the game's next eight points while holding the Tartans scoreless for an 8:53 span in taking a 52-47 lead.  Holding a slim two-point edge,  a huge layup by Morgan with 44 seconds on the clock enabled Emory to go ahead by a 57-53 count before the Tartans responded with a basket to  stay within two points with 30 seconds left.   Jackson then closed out the game's scoring and sealed the outcome with a pair of free throws with two seconds left.
