Emory Women's Golf Set For Montgomery Country Club Intercollegiate

Emory Women's Golf Set For Montgomery Country Club Intercollegiate

The Emory women's golf team will tee off on Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 28-29) in the Montgomery Country Club Women's Intercollegiate in Montgomery, Alabama. Huntingdon College will serve as the host school at the Montgomery Country Club, where a 5,806-yard, par-72 course awaits. The event will consist of 36 holes spread across Saturday and Sunday, with 18 holes to be played each day.

The Eagles will face a strong mix of teams this weekend, as four of the schools in the 12-team field are ranked in the top-15, according to the latest Women's Golf Coaches Association Poll, which was released on Sept. 21st. Namely, Rhodes College stands in a tie for fourth in the nation among D-III teams, while Methodist University (#11), Oglethorpe University (#12), and Washington and Lee University (#13) remain just outside of the top-10. Huntingdon College, Sewanee, Birmingham-Southern University, and Emory are all in the receiving votes category of the poll.

Head Coach Katie Futcher will send six of her freshman athletes to Alabama for the second of four competitions that make up the fall portion of her team's schedule. Ksheera Jalakam, Alice Acosta, and Jessie Ji will make their second appearances of the season. Natalie Spitzer will also return to action but will compete as an individual. Making their debuts, Lillian Knetter and Amisha Singh round out the group of five golfers that will represent the Eagles and have strokes count towards the team total.

Emory opened up its first season of women's golf just two weeks ago (Sept. 14-15) at the D-III Preview, where it took eighth-place out of 13 teams by recording a 54-hole stroke total of 986. Some familiar foes attended that tournament in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida as well. Oglethorpe, Washington and Lee, Methodist, Birmingham-Southern, Sewanee, and Huntingdon finished 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 10th, and 12th, at that event, respectively.

Live stats will be continuously updated during the tournament as scores are posted here.
