Women's Golf Headed to NCAA Championships

Women's Golf Headed to NCAA Championships

The No. 1 ranked Emory University women's golf team is headed to the NCAA Championships for the third consecutive season as the NCAA tournament field was announced Monday evening.

The Eagles are one of 29 teams selected for this year's NCAA Championships. Emory enters the tournament as the second overall seed with the University of Redlands owning the top seed and fellow UAA member WashU earning the third seed. In addition to the 29 teams, six individuals from non-qualifying schools were chosen to bring the field to 151 golfers.

Emory is looking to defend its national championship following a record-setting tournament last spring at the Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston.

The championships will consist of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently. Following 54 holes of competition, the field will be cut to the top 15 teams and top six individuals not on one of those teams to compete the final day. In the team competition, the low four scores from each team for each day will count in the team's total score.

The championships will be conducted May 9-12 at Mission Inn Resort & Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. Oglethorpe University and Greater Orlando Sports Commission will serve as hosts.
