Women's Golf Tied for Fourth Through Two Rounds at Golfweek October Classic

The No. 3 ranked Emory University women's golf team continued play at the Golfweek October Classic on Monday at the Baytowne Golf Club in Sandestin, Florida.

The Eagles shot a 309 in the second round, slipping back two spots following the +21 scorecard. Pomona-Pitzer continues to lead the field at 583 over the first two rounds of competition. Carnegie Mellon checks in at 605 followed by Centre College at 609. Emory is tied with Illinois Wesleyan in the fourth position.

Junior Sharon Mun bounced back after being the Eagles' fifth-best performer on Sunday to lead the team with a day two total of 75. Mun had a team-best four birdies on Monday and posted eight pars. Through two rounds, she stands at an 11-over 155 and in a tie for 35th.

Freshman Derica Chiu and junior Heejo Hyun followed with scores of 77 and 78, respectively. After two days of action, Chiu and Hyun are tied for 21st with 152 over their first 36 holes.

Junior Ellen Dong recorded a day two 79 to bring her two-round score to 157 while freshman Esther Jung carded an 81 on Monday and will enter the final round in a tie for 43rd with a 156.

The Golfweek October Classic will come to a close on Tuesday with the third and final round getting underway in the morning.
