Women’s Golf Moves to Second Place after Round Three; Dong Tied for First Individually

The Emory University women's golf program sits in second place after the third round of the NCAA Championships in Nicholasville, Kentucky.

After rain and darkness delays on Wednesday, the Eagles concluded the second round on Thursday morning hanging onto a three-stroke lead over the Carnegie Mellon Tartans. Following the second round, the remaining 15 teams made a shotgun start at 1:15 PM to start round three. At the end of three days, the Eagles trail the Tartans by two strokes as they search for their second NCAA championship in three years. They'll head into Friday's final round with a three-day total of 893.

Junior Ellen Dong continues to be a powerhouse for the Eagles moving her way into a tie for first after three rounds. She shot a 73 in round two with 13 pars and two birdies followed by a season-low 70 in round three propelling her to the top of the leaderboard. She posted five birdies and shot nothing over par on the front nine.

Also having an impressive day was freshman Carys Code as she shot her second-best career round with a 72 in the second round followed by a 76 in round three. Her three birdies and nine pars in the latest round moved her into a tie for seventh place individually.

Following eight strokes behind in the individual ranks is sophomore Katie Park who shot a combined 158 between the two rounds and now sits in a tie for 30th with a total score of 230. Right behind her is freshman Esther Jung who has posted a score of 231 across the tournament including her best round of 74 in round two.

Junior Sharon Mun had her best day of the tournament thus far shooting a 77 in round two with nine pars and two birdies and a 76 in round three following the delays.
