Athletes of the Week

Offense
(Nov. 14) Senior Lauren Hudak turned in a solid performance for the Eagles during their two NCAA tournament matches.  Against the University of the South Hudak helped to give Emory a 1-0 overtime victory to advance to face 2004 national runner-up University of Puget Sound.  Against Puget Sound Hudak again fought hard, but saw her career conclude with a 2-0 defeat.  For the season she finished with four goals and four assists for 12 points, while also recording two game-winning goals.  Hudak was also named second-team all conference.

Defense
(Nov. 14) Senior goalie Amy Franciscovich ended her career as having the lowest goals against average in school history at 0.51.  In the NCAA tournament match against Sewanee she recorded her ninth shut-out of the season, while recording eight saves in the team's loss to the University of Puget Sound.  For the year, Franciscovich recorded a goals against average of 0.48, while tallying 57 saves.  For her career she finished with a record of 40-11-4 (.764).


Offense
( Nov.7) Senior Nancy Wilson scored the winning goal as the Emory women's soccer team finished the regular season with a 2-1 victory over Carnegie Mellon.  She finishes the regular season with six goals, five of which were game-winning goals.

 Defense
(Nov. 7) Senior goalkeeper Amy Franciscovich recorded three saves as the Emory women's soccer team ended regular season play with a 2-1 victory over Carnegie Mellon.  She finishes the regular season with 45 saves and just six goals allowed.  Her goals against average of 0.41 goals is the second-best in school history.


Defense
(Oct. 31) Senior goalkeeper Amy Franciscovich finished the weekend with a total of six saves as the Emory women's soccer team went 1-1.  Against 16th-ranked Rochester, Franciscovich turned in a solid effort with four saves, while recording one against Case Western Reserve.


Offense
(Oct. 24) Freshman Joyce Lam scored a goal and added two assists in Sunday's 5-0 victory over Greensboro College. For the year Lam has four goals, which ties her for the team lead among freshman. She also has three assists on the year for the 22nd-ranked Eagles.

Defense
(Oct. 24) Freshman Alexa Wahr turned in a solid defensive effort in Sunday's 5-0 victory at Greensboro College. Wahr helped the defense to shut down GC, allowing no shots on goal for the contest as she played all 90 minutes of the contest.


Offense
(Oct. 3) Sophomore Kristine Falk scored the game-winning goal in 24th-ranked Emory's 1-0 victory over Washington University to open conference play. Falk scored the goal in the 70th minute on an assist from senior Lauren Hudak. This marked Falk's first goal of the season as she became the 11th Eagle to score this year.

Defense
(Oct. 3) Freshman Leanna Racine turned in a solid defensive effort for the 24th-ranked Eagles on Saturday. Emory held Washington to just three shot attempts for the match and one shot on goal. Racine was constantly thwarting the Washington offensive attack by winning balls and reading plays.


Offense
(Sept. 26) Junior Jessie Dean scored two goals and provided a game-winning assist this past week as Emory went 2-0-1 to improve their record to 6-0-2 on the season. Dean scored two goals in 50 seconds against cross-town rival Oglethorpe in helping the Eagles to a 3-0 victory. In Sunday's match against Rhodes College she provided an assist to Lauren Hudak as EU defeated Rhodes 2-1 in overtime. For the season Dean has three goals, which ties her for the team lead.

Defense
(Sept. 26) Junior defender Laurel O'Neal returned from an ankle injury to help lead the women's soccer team's defense this past week. In three games the defense held the opponents to a combined one goal as Emory defeated Oglethorpe 3-0, tied Sewanee 0-0 and defeated Rhodes 2-1. O'Neal was out for two weeks with her injury, but returned to provide a spark on a defense that has held the Eagle's eight opponents to one goal for the year.


Offense
(Sept. 19) Senior Lauren Hudak helped lead the 24th-ranked Emory women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory Saturday night against Kenyon College of Ohio. Hudak scored a pair of goals in the contest to lead the offensive attack. She scored the first goal with 36:10 left in the first half and notched her other with 14:24 remaining in the fist half to give the Eagles a 2-0 advantage. Both goals were assisted by freshman Alexa Wahr. Hudak returns as a third-team All-America selection, as well as a first-team All-UAA performer.

Defense
(Sept. 19) Senior goalie Amy Franciscovich continues to lead the 24th-ranked women's soccer team on defense, as she has not allowed a goal to be scored all season. In Saturday's 3-0 win against Kenyon College, Franciscovich recorded two saves, while playing all 90 minutes. For the season she has recorded 12 saves. Her highest total of the season came against Oneonta College with five.


Offense
(Sept. 12) Sophomore Jamie English scored a goal and added an assist on Friday as the Emory women's soccer team defeated Hartwick College 3-0 during the first day of the Mayers Cup in Oneonta, N.Y. For the year English has two assists and two goals as Emory stands 4-0-1.

Defense
(Sept. 12) Senior goalie Amy Franciscovich continued her solid play defending the net as Emory has not had a goal scored against it to date. In the 3-0 win over Hartwick College she recorded two saves, while in the tie with Oneonta she had five. Against Oneonta she turned in a complete game, playing both halves and each of the overtimes.


(Sept. 6) Jessie Dean recorded a goal and an assist in Friday night's 2-0 season-opening win over Roanoke College of Virginia. Dean, a junior, recroded her first goal of the year in the second-half to push the Eagles' lead to 2-0. During the first half she assisted on freshman Jillian Brady's first collegiate goal.
