Kelly Costopoulos

Kelly Costopoulos

Emory University freshman midfielder Kelly Costopoulos scored both goals during Emory’s 2-0 victory over Maryville College in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championships.  Costopoulos struck for her first goal of the game in the 74th minute, the eventual game winner, collecting a deflected pass and shooting it into the back of the net.  Just over five minutes later, the University Athletic Association (UAA) Rookie of the Year would score again, this time converting a header off a corner kick.  Costopoulos now has a team-best 15 points on seven goals and one assist, including six goals and three game winners over her last six games.  She has helped lead the seventh-ranked Eagles, now 16-1-3 this season, to the third round of the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Championships.
