Emory University sophomore Kelly Costopoulos scored the game-winning goal in overtime against New York University, clinching the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship for the fifth-ranked Eagles. During Sunday’s 3-2 overtime win against NYU, Costopoulos scored her second career ‘golden goal’ in the 97th minute of play on a shot from the near side of the box. The shot was her third of the game, and her first on goal. The midfielder also took one shot during the Eagles’ 3-0 win over Brandeis on Friday. Costopoulos has played in all 16 Emory games this season, scoring four goals (including two game-winning goals) and assisting on four others, good for 12 points. The wins during the weekend raised the team’s record to 14-0-2, including a 5-0-1 mark in conference play, securing the sixth UAA Championship in the program’s history.
