Emory University center back Lauren Gorodetsky played all 180 minutes of the Eagles’ two shutout victories in the NCAA Tournament last weekend, helping limit opposing teams to a combined four shots, only one of which was on goal. During Saturday’s first round game against Piedmont College, a 3-0 Eagles win, Gorodetsky led an Emory defense that held the Lions to just one shot, and no shots on goal. On Sunday’s 2-0 win over Centre College, the sophomore helped limit the Colonels to three shots, including just one on goal. Gorodetsky and the Eagles’ backfield has recorded a program-record 16 shutouts this season, while registering a 0.20 team goals-against average. Emory matched a program record for wins with a 17-0-2 overall record this season, and will advance to the round of 16 of the NCAA Tournament.
