Emory University senior Claire Rubel helped the fifth-ranked Eagles match a program record with their 14th shutout of the season, besting Carnegie Mellon University 2-0 on Saturday. She played all 90 minutes of the match at center back for the Eagles, helping hold the Tartans scoreless on eight shots, only five of which were on goal. Rubel and the Emory defense has recorded a 0.23 team goals-against average this season, while limiting opponents to 6.7 shots per game, and 2.7 shots on goal per contest. Rubel’s performance helped the Eagles clinch the first undefeated regular season in Emory Athletics history (15-0-2) and win the 2011 UAA Championship.
