Stein Named Final 2011 UAA Athlete of the Week for Women’s Soccer

Emory University junior goalkeeper Erica Stein was named the Defensive Athlete of the Week for the University Athletic Association (UAA), following her 45 shutout minutes in goal during the first half of the fifth-ranked Eagles' 1-0 double overtime loss to 20th-ranked Williams College.

Stein made two saves during the first half of the match, each coming on long shots by the Ephs.  With the perfect first frame, she lowered her goals-against average to 0.20 for the season, setting a new school single-season record.

Stein finished the year with a record of 11-0-1, allowing just two goals in 900 minutes and making 15 saves for a .882 save percentage.  She was a part of 16 shutouts during the year, a new program high.

As a team, the Eagles finished the year with 10 conference Athlete of the Week honors, seven being awarded to defensive players and three to offensive players.  This was the second time Stein has earned the honor this season, and the second UAA Athlete of the Week honor of her career.
