Gorodetsky Selected to Jewish All-America Team; Three Other Eagles Earn Honorable Mentions

Emory University sophomore Lauren Gorodetsky was named to the Jewish All-America Women's Soccer Team, as seletced by the Jewish Sports Review, while freshman Emily Feldman, senior Claire Rubel and junior Erica Stein were each chosen as honorable mentions.

Gorodetsky was one of the top defensive players in Division III this season, earning selections to the D3Soccer.com All-America First Team and the NSCAA All-America Second Team (for the second-consecutive year).  In addition, the sophomore was named the University Athletic Association's (UAA) Most Valuable Player, and claimed all-UAA First Team honors for the second-straight season.  She led an Emory defense that allowed just five goals all season, finishing third among NCAA Division III teams with a 0.242 goals-against average, the best mark in the program's history.  The Eagles' backline shut out a program-record 16 opponents, good for a 0.8 shutout percentage, also the third-best mark among Division III squads in 2011.  Gorodetsky contributed offensively as well, scoring four goals for eight points during the year.  Three of her four goals scored were game-winning strikes.

Feldman finished her freshman campaign tied for the team lead with 20 points, scoring seven goals and assisting on six others.  Two of her goals during the year were game-winning strikes, and she assisted on a pair of game-winning goals as well.  Feldman began her career by recording at least one point in each of her first six games, including goals in four-straight games from September 10th - 18th.

Rubel set new career highs with 20 games played and 18 starts during her senior season, rotating between center back and outside midfielder during the year.  Her one assist came on a key score during a conference game, helping the Eagles to a 1-1 tie against the University of Chicago.  Rubel also contributed to an Eagles' defense that limited opponents to just 6.35 shots per game and 2.6 shots on goal per game during the campaign.

Stein started and played the first half of all 20 Emory games during the season, setting a new program record with a 0.20 goals-against average, while her 11 wins and .882 save percentage each ranked as the 10th-best single season marks in school history.  She combined with teammate Kaele Leonard for 16 shutouts during the year, setting a new program record.  In addition, Stein recorded a streak of 656 minutes and 26 seconds without allowing a goal, the third-longest streak by an Emory keeper.  Earlier in the year, Stein was named to the Capital One Academic All-District Team.

The Eagles advanced to the Round of 16 of the NCAA Championships in 2011, finishing the year ranked eighth in the NSCAA Final Poll with a 17-1-2 record.
