Emory Women’s Soccer Announces Eight New Members for 2012

Emory University head women's soccer coach Sue Patberg announced the addition of eight players, including six freshmen and two transfers, to the roster for the upcoming 2012 season.

"We are very excited to be adding this group of talented and diverse players to our roster, who will help to build on the program's successful history," said Patberg.  "The freshman class will provide depth all across the field, and our transfers will add valuable Division I experience to the squad.  With these new players now officially a part of the program, we are looking forward to the start of the 2012 season."

Liz Arnold (Goalkeeper – Cincinnati, OH/ The Summit Country Day School – Classic Hammer) – Was a two-year captain for the Summit Country Day School, helping her team win the Ohio State Division III Championship during her senior year… Named to the all-Southwest Ohio, the All-Conference Second Teams… Was a three-time Academic All-Ohio Southwest selection and a National Merit Commended Scholar.

Morika Hensley (Center  Back – Taos, NM/ Taos – Rio Vista) – Helped her team finish second in New Mexico in 2011, the best finish in her school's history or by any 3A public school… Led Taos High School to back-to-back district championships in 2010 and 2011… Was the District Player of the Year in 2010… Earned All-State honors in 2010 and 2011… Was an All-District First Team selection in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

Greta Jochmann (Center Midfielder – Knoxville, TN/ Oak Ridge – Middle Tennessee State Univ.) – Played for NCAA Division I Middle Tennessee State University in 2011, appearing in all 20 of the team's matches and making nine starts after recovering from an injury and redshirting her freshman year at the school… Scored one goal during the season, the game winner against Tennessee Tech… Before college, competed for Oak Ridge High School, and was named to the NSCAA All-South Region All-Star Team, in addition to earning All-South Region and Scholar All-America honors her senior year… Scored 16 goals and assisted on 14 others for 46 points her senior year.

Jordan Morell
(Midfielder – Roswell, GA/ Centennial – UFA Elite) – Played for the Georgia State ODP team from 2007-11… Helped her club squad to back-to-back Region 3 Premier League Championships in 2009 and 2010… Her team also claimed the state championship in 2009 and 2011, and was a regional semifinalist in 2010… Was a four-year letterwinner for Centennial High School, earning the team's Most Valuable Player honor in 2010, and all-region status in 2011 and 2012.

Ally Peterson
(Midfielder/Defender – Houston, TX/ Clear Lake – Albion Hurricanes) – Helped her club team, the Albion Hurricanes, to the Region 3 Premier League Championship in 2011, and will be going to Regionals in June… Played on the South Texas ODP team for four years… Helped Clear Lake High School to a Regional Championship in 2011, the finals in 2012, and the semifinals in 2010…  Ranked 13th nationally by ESPNrise in 2011, and 30th in 2010… Named to the All-District First Team, and invited to play in the 2012 TASCO senior showcase.

Ari Robin
(Center Midfielder – Washington, DC/ Sidwell Friends School – Bethesda Freedom) – Captain of the Sidwell Friends School team, winning the school's Player of the Year award… Has also played for the Bethesda Soccer Club for eight years, in addition to spending three years on the '93 Maryland ODP team and two years on the Washington Freedom Super Y team… Helped her team win the US Club Soccer Regional Tournament, and  represents the Bethesda Soccer Club in the U18 flight of the Elite Clubs National League, comprising the top-66 soccer clubs in America.

Karina Rodriguez (Forward – Boca Raton, FL/ American Heritage – UNC Greensboro/ Columbian U17 & U20 National Teams) – Played her freshman year for UNC Greensboro, appearing in all 19 games and making seven starts, scoring two goals and assisting on another for five points… Played for both the Columbian U-17 and U-20 National teams… In high school, was a three-time all-county honorable mention for the America Heritage School, helping her team to back-to-back state titles her junior and senior years… Also played 12 years for Team Boca, leading her club team to a pair of state championships… Played on the Florida Youth Soccer State Team in 2007 and 2008… Was also a four-year Dean's Honor Roll selection, a two-year National Honor Society member, and a Spanish Honor Society member in high school.  

Kristin Temple
(Goalkeeper – Boca Raton, FL/ Cardinal Newman – Weston Fury) – Was the Most Valuable Player and captain of the Cardinal Newman High School team, earning all-region status… Played for Weston FC, helping the team to a win at the Score at the Shore Tournament and finishing in the top-eight in the state of Florida… Played the entire game in goal during her team's 1-1 tie against a professional team from Miami… Was an honor roll selection in high school, in addition to being a member of the National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society… Also spearheaded a project in February of 2011, collecting over 3,400 stuffed animals to be donated to children in Haiti.

In 2011, the Emory University women's soccer team completed the first undefeated regular season by a team sport in the athletic program's history, claiming a University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship and advancing to the Round of 16 of the NCAA Championships.

The Eagles will open their 2012 campaign on September 1st at Messiah College, the reigning NCAA Division III National Champions.
