For the second day in a row, the sixth-ranked Emory University women's soccer team pulled out an overtime thriller on the road, as sophomore forward Emily Feldman scored in the 108^th minute to give the Eagles a 1-0 double-overtime win over Franklin and Marshall College.

Feldman scored on a point-blank shot from inside the box, set up by a pass from freshman Ally Peterson.  It was the first goal of the season for Feldman, and the first 'golden goal' of her Emory career.  It was also the first assist of Peterson's career.

The score wrapped up a big weekend for Feldman, who also played a key role in the Eagles' 2-1 overtime win over top-ranked Messiah College on Saturday.  In that game, the sophomore assisted on the first Emory goal of the game, and later set up a game-winning penalty kick in overtime, drawing a foul inside the box.  Feldman leads all Emory players with three points this season.

The game was a defense battle throughout, with the Eagles controlling possession the majority of the time.  However, Franklin and Marshall's backline was able to limit Emory's shot-on-goal opportunities during regulation, keeping the Eagles from scoring.

Emory continued to have opportunities in the second half, but was unable to get on the board.  The Eagles' best opportunity in regulation came with just 3:15 remaining in  the second half, when a foul inside the box set up a chance for a potential game-winning penalty kick for Emory for the second-straight day.  Just a day removed from her penalty kick 'golden goal' against Messiah, senior Clare Mullins took the chance again on Sunday, but Diplomats goalkeeper Amanda McGowan was able to make the save to preserve the scoreless tie, and send the game into overtime.

Emory had an opportunity to end the game in the 96^th minute, but sophomore Karina Rodriguez's shot on a ball served into the box went just wide of the net.

The Eagles threatened throughout the match, taking a total of 25 shots, five of which were on goal.  Meanwhile, Emory's defense was dominant for the second-straight day, limiting the Diplomats to just three shots and one shot on goal over the 107 minutes and 54 seconds of the match.  In over 200 minutes played in its first two matches this season, Emory's backline has limited it's two opponents to 12 shots, four of which have been on goal.

Emory senior goalkeeper Erica Stein played a scoreless first half, making one save, while senior Kaele Leonard played the second half and both overtime periods, earning the victory (2-0-0) without needed to stop a shot.  McGowan took the tough loss in goal for Franklin and Marshall, falling to 0-1-1 on the season.

The victory wrapped up a perfect opening weekend for the Eagles, who improved to 2-0-0 on the campaign.  Franklin and Marshall dropped to 0-1-1 on the year with the loss.

The Eagles will continue their four-game road swing to start the 2012 campaign on Friday, September 7^th at 7:30 PM, as Emory will take on third-ranked Johns Hopkins University in Raleigh, NC as part of the Meredith College National Invitational Classic.
