#16 Emory to Face Host & 7th-Ranked Centre in Second Round of NCAAs

Following the team's win over DePauw University on Saturday night, the 16th-ranked Emory University women's soccer team will face host and seventh-ranked Centre College in the second round of the tournament in Danville, KY on Sunday, November 11th at 5:00 PM.

Venue Information
Sunday's second-round game will be played at Hillside Field on the campus of Centre College.  Admission to the match is free, but a ticket is required to enter site. Tickets will be available on day of event(s) and can be obtained at entrances. A different ticket must be obtained each day of tournament play.

Emory Eagles
Emory, which received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, improved to 12-1-6 on the season with a first-round victory over DePauw University on Saturday, including a record of 5-1-4 in road and neutral games, and are 4-1-3 this season in road games.

Emory is led by head coach Sue Patberg, who has now reached the NCAA Tournament in six of her eight seasons at Emory, and 14 times during her 19-year career, which includes stays at the Division I University of Minnesota and the University of Georgia. She holds a 108-23-23 during her time with the Eagles, good for a .775 winning percentage, and a career ledger of 254-111-41.  Patberg is assisted by Rachel Moreland and Mike Wentzler.

Centre Colonels
After earning a Pool B at large bid to the NCAA Tournament, Centre claimed a 2-0 win over Agnes Scott College to advance to the second round of the Championships.  With the victory, the Colonels improved to 20-1-0 on the season, including a record of 11-0-0 at home during the year.  The team was ranked seventh in the final NSCAA D-III women's soccer poll of the regular season, and ninth in the D3Soccer.com poll.

Centre features one of Division III's top defenses this season, sporting a 0.34 goals-against average, which ranked eighth in the country to start the week.  Goalkeeper Megan Foley is ranked 17th among Division III keepers with a 0.47 goals against average and 94th with a 0.808 save percentage.

Offensively, the team has been led by senior Mary Taylor Kersey, who has scored a team-high 10 goals, including both against Agnes Scott on Saturday.  Freshman Alex Combs has contributed with eight goals and five assists during the campaign, while sophomores Anne Mitchell and Katie Stevenson have each scored six goals and assisted on two.  Centre has scored 56 goals this season, while outshooting opponents 343-101, including a 208-44 advantage in shots on goal.

Centre is coached by Jay Hoffman, who has a 110-47-13 record during his nine years with the program, and has qualified for the NCAA Championships on three occasions.  He is assisted by Jessica Chisley.

Matchup History
Emory is 1-0-1 all-time against Centre, with the one victory coming by way of a 2-0 win in the second round of last season's NCAA Tournament in Atlanta.  In last season's meeting, the Eagles received goals from Lidija Barauskas and Merrill Bachouros, with Romero picking up a pair of assists, and Butker earning one.  Emory outshot Centre 25-3 in the contest, including a 17-1 advantage for the Eagles in shots on goal.  The tie, a 1-1 affair, took place during the 1998 season.
