Gorodetsky Named to the NSCAA All-America First Team

For the third-consecutive year, Emory University junior Lauren Gorodetsky was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division III Women's All-America team, as the defender earned a selection to the first team for the first time in her career.

Gorodetsky became the first three-time all-America honoree in the history of the Emory Women's Soccer Team, and was one of just three players (and the only non-senior) on this year's NSCAA All-America Team to be a three-time selection, along with midfielder Alexandra Brandt of Messiah and forward Rachel Palladino of Ithaca.  She is the third player in Emory women's soccer history to earn a spot on the NSCAA All-America First Team, joining former Eagles Amy Carter (1996) and Annie Schenck (2000 and 2001).

Gorodetsky was named to the NSCAA All-America Second Team in both 2010 and 2011, and the D3Soccer.com All-America First Team in 2011.  She is the two-time reigning University Athletic Association (UAA) Most Valuable Player, earning all-UAA First Team selections all three years of her career, and becoming the only active conference player to earn a spot on the UAA 25-Year Team.

In 2012, Gorodetsky led an Emory defense that once again finished as one of the best in Division III, as the center back was named the Most Outstanding Defensive Player at the 2012 NCAA D-III Championships.  The junior was a key piece on a backline that finished 13th among Division III teams with a 0.461 goals-against average and 30th with a .583 shutout percentage, in addition to limiting teams to 7.1 shots per game and 3.6 shots on goal per game.  Gorodetsky also assisted on four goals and scored one, the game-winning goal in Emory's NCAA Semifinal victory over Wheaton College (Ill.).

Overall, 11 different Emory women's soccer players have now claimed 17 NSCAA All-America honors during the program's history.

Gorodetsky helped lead the Eagles to the highest national finish in the program's history, finishing second at the 2012 NCAA D-III Women's Soccer Championships and ending the year with a 15-2-7 overall record.
