Hannah Meyer

Emory University freshman and University Athletic Association (UAA) Rookie of the Year Hannah Meyer helped lead the eighth-ranked Eagles to a pair of victories during the opening rounds of the NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer Championships last weekend.  Meyer played the entirety of the first half of the Eagles’ 6-1 win over Piedmont College on Saturday, holding the Lions to just one shot off target during a scoreless frame.  On Sunday, facing the second-ranked offense in Division III in 11th-ranked Lynchburg College, the center back played all 90 minutes and held the Hornets to one goal on 15 shots and six shots on goal during a 2-1 Emory win.  Meyer also had a key pass in the game that led to a penalty kick opportunity for Emory, which proved to be the game-winning goal.  The all-UAA honorable mention has been a key member of the Eagles’ backfield this season, playing in all 20 games and making 15 starts, and registering 1,428 minutes, the second-most on the team this season.  Her efforts have helped Emory record a goals-against average of 0.54 during the campaign.  Meyer and the Eagles improved to 16-3-1 with the wins, advancing to the round of 16 of the NCAA Championships for the fourth-consecutive season.
