Women's Soccer Drops 2-0 Decision to #7 Washington

The Emory University women's soccer team fell to 0-2 in UAA play on Saturday afternoon, falling to #7 Washington University 2-0 at home.

Olivia Lillegraven found the back of the net twice in the second half for the Bears, both on headers. Lillegraven scored her first goal of the contest in the 65thminute, heading in the ball off a far cross from Caroline Dempsey. Lillegraven tallied her second goal of the game 16 minutes later in the 81st, heading in the insurance goal following a Hannah Rosenberg corner kick.

For the game, Washington led 11-9 in shots including a 6-4 mark in shots on goal. Cristina Ramirez had the Eagles' best scoring opportunity in the 19thminute of the first half. Ramirez received the Anna Gurney pass on a great through ball that gave a streaking Ramirez a 1-on-1 opportunity with the WU goalkeeper, Lizzy Crist. Ramirez fired her shot on goal from point blank range but was denied by a great save by Crist.

Liz Arnold made four saves including two great ones in the span of 10 seconds in the 55th minute. The first shot was a hard one directly at her but Arnold made the stop. The rebound however, went right into the middle of the box. The Bears' forward tried to put in the rebound to the far corner of the net but Arnold made a miraculous one-handed diving stop to keep the game scoreless.

Emory will look to snap its current three-game skid as the team travels to Case Western Reserve on Friday night and Carnegie Mellon on Sunday afternoon in UAA action.
