Late Goal in 2OT Stuns Women's Soccer Against #5 Carnegie Mellon

Megan Bartoshuk scored with six seconds left in the second overtime period to hand the Emory University women's soccer team a 1-0 heartbreaking defeat to the 5th-ranked Carnegie Mellon Tartans on a snowy Sunday afternoon in Pittsburgh.

Bartoshuk made a sliding attempt at the loose ball right outside the six yard box and was able to get just enough on it to put it past a diving Hannah Meyer and Liz Arnold for the game-winning goal.

The Emory defense played outstanding up until that point keeping the highest scoring UAA team out of the back of net despite numerous opportunities, including a flurry of chances in the second overtime. Arnold was terrific in goal, making four saves with one highlight reel stop in the first half when she made a leaping one-handed save on a Tartan shot, pushing the ball over the crossbar.

Carnegie Mellon outshot the Eagles 11-4 in the contest, limiting Emory to just one shot on goal coming from Jordan Morell. Emory held CMU to just four shots after halftime.

The Eagles will take a short hiatus from UAA play as the team will face Division I opponent Kennesaw State on Tuesday, October 27 for the final non-conference match of the season.
