Women's Soccer Celebrates Senior Day with Win over Rochester

The Emory University women's soccer team closed out the 2015 season with a 3-1 victory over the University of Rochester on Saturday afternoon. Before the start of the game, seniors Liz Arnold, Jordan Morell, Ally Peterson and Kristin Temple were honored as part of a Senior Day ceremony.

Morell made the most of her final game as an Eagle as she scored the first goal of the game just nine minutes in. Morell sent her corner kick into the box but struck just right as it curved past everyone and into the back corner of the net to give Emory an early 1-0 lead.

Freshman Grace Jarrett made it 2-0 Eagles in the 31st minute as she poked in a Kaitlyn Dorkacross for her first career goal. For Dorka, it was her second assist on the campaign.

Fellow freshman Sophia Dillonprovided the insurance tally for Emory in the 68thas Dillion converted on a great through ball from Cristina Ramirezat the top of box. Ramirez ends the season with a team-high five assists.

Rochester added a goal three minutes later as Lee Stagg scored off a Kerri Eden shot following a free kick. The goal was put past Liz Arnold who finished with three saves after playing the final 45 minutes at goalkeeper. Arnold started the contest at forward, the first time in her career she played a field position. Temple opened the game in goal for the Eagles, making two saves in the first half.

With the win, the Eagles snapped their nine-game winless streak and finished the season with an 8-6-4 overall record and a 1-3-3 mark in UAA play. It is the program's 27thstraight season with a winning record. The Yellowjackets end the year 8-7-2 and a 2-4-1 record in UAA action.
