Women's Soccer Falls to Cal Lutheran, 2-1

The Emory University Women's Soccer fell to 1-1 on the season, falling to California Lutheran by a score of 2-1 on Saturday afternoon on the campus of University of Redlands.

The two teams were deadlocked until the 57th minute when the Regals broke through with a tally from Bri Pinal. Cal Lutheran increased their lead to 2-0 just six minutes later with a marker from Nina Winstock off the feed from Pinal.

The Eagles cut the deficit to one with freshman Shivani Beall's first career goal in the 85th minute. Senior Hannah Meyer had the assist on the play for his first point of the season.

The Regals prevented Emory from putting any other shots on target for the remainder of the contest to hold on for the 2-1 victory.

In the loss, the Eagles managed to hold an 11-7 margin in shots with 7-6 edge in shots on goal. Junior Kaitlyn Dorka led the team with three shots with one being on goal.

Sophomore Dani Staffin dropped to 1-1, making four saves in the defeat while California Lutheran's keeper, Coral Hasley, made six stops for the Regals.

The Eagles close out their California road trip with a matchup against the University of Redlands tomorrow at 2:00 PM eastern time.
