The Emory University Women's Soccer team played to its second consecutive tie against a University Athletic Association opponent, playing to a 1-1 draw with New York University on Sunday afternoon at Gaelic Park on the campus of Manhattan College in Riverdale, New York.

The Eagles (9-5-2, 2-2-2 UAA) outshot the Violets 25-7 in the contest including a 10-5 margin in shots on goal. In the first half, Emory held an 8-3 advantage in shots with its two best scoring opportunities coming in the opening five minutes of the game. Senior Hannah Meyer rifled a shot through traffic in the third minute but NYU's Cassie Steinberg made a nice kick save on the attempt. Less than two minutes, senior Cristina Ramirez had a shot that looked ticketed for the back of the net but an NYU defender made a great diving stop to keep the game scoreless.

In the 13^th minute, the Violets (10-3-4, 1-2-3) got on the board as Teressa Fazio netted her seventh goal of the season. Marquel Love dribbled past an Emory defender and crossed it into the middle of the field where Fazio was able to finish it to give NYU an early 1-0 lead.

Emory had a chance to tie it in the 57^th minute as the Eagles were awarded a penalty kick following a NYU handball in the box. However, Ramirez missed the PK as her attempt went high and wide right.

In the 68^th minute, freshman Caroline Kolski put a header on target following a corner kick by classmate Shivani Beall but Kolski's shot just missed high. Later in the 75^th minute, Kolski and Beall connected on an identical play, only this time Kolski was able to find the equalizer with 15:30 remaining in the second half. The goal was Kolski's fifth of the season with Breall earning her team-leading seventh assist on the play.

With 13 seconds left to play in regulation, sophomore Dani Staffin made an outstanding diving stop on a loose ball destined for the lower left hand corner of the net to force the game into overtime. Staffin finished with four saves in 110 minutes of action.

In overtime, Emory did not allow NYU to get off a shot, outshooting the Violets 5-0. Sophomore Grace Edgarton had the lone shot on goal in the extra sessions, putting a shot on net in the 108^th minute but her shot was right at Steinberg who was able to make the save.

The Eagles will head to Rochester next Saturday evening to face the Yellowjackets in the regular season finale. Kickoff from Rochester is set to begin at 5:00 pm.
