Danielle Darius Earns Second Start for Haiti in FIFA U-20 World Cup Group Stage Finale vs. Germany

Emory University senior Danielle Darius made her second start for the Haitian National Team in the FIFA Under-20 Women's World Cup on Monday in the third and final match of group play.

After not appearing in the match against Nigeria on Thursday, Darius was back in the starting lineup against Germany on Monday, starting at center back and playing the entirety of the contest. Germany raced out to a 3-0 advantage with three goals within the first 60 minutes but Haiti did not go down quietly, cutting the deficit to one with a pair of Mondesir goals in the 63rd and 73rd minutes. The two goals were the first the German National Team had surrendered in the tournament.

Haiti concludes its first-ever appearance in the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup with three goals in three contests. Germany and Nigeria advanced through from Group D to the next round of the tournament.

Darius is set to rejoin her Eagle teammates when preseason begins later this month as the team gears up for the start of the 2018 season. Emory opens the slate on Friday, August 31st in San Antonio, Texas against Puget Sound.
