Emory Women's Soccer Downs #18 Ohio Northern, 3-1

The Emory University women's soccer team registered its second consecutive 3-1 victory, knocking off 18th-ranked Ohio Northern University Saturday afternoon in the second game of the Centre College tournament.

The Eagles posted three second half goals en route to the victory and will advance to tomorrow's tournament final to face host Centre at 1:30 PM. The 19th-ranked Colonels defeated North Central by a score of 2-0 in the early game on Saturday.

Emory was led by the senior duo of Molly Miller and Samantha Hilsee as the pair combined for all three Eagles goals in the win. Emory thoroughly controlled possession, outshooting the Polar Bears by a 22-6 margin including a 13-4 mark in shots on goal.

After a scoreless first half, Miller put the Eagles in front 1-0 as she knocked in a loose ball front right in front in the 52nd minute. ONU regrouped and was able to tie the score at one in the 59th minute as Alaina Casey redirected a Jill Roberts' free kick from inside the six.

Following ten minutes of limited scoring chances, Hilsee found the back of the net twice in the span of three minutes to clinch the win for the Eagles. In the 68th minute, Hilsee fired a shot from 22 yards out that found the top left corner and then in the 71st minute, she converted a penalty kick after a take down in the box.

Senior Emma Platt totaled three saves as she improved to 2-0 between the posts. For ONU, Kristy Catrine recorded nine saves in 77 minutes as she took the loss.

Both the Eagles and Colonels will carry 2-0 records into tomorrow afternoon's contest at Amend Field in Danville, KY.
