Women's Soccer Remains Unbeaten; Defeats Washington & Lee, 1-0

The Emory University women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to six games Saturday afternoon, defeating the Washington & Lee University Generals, 1-0, at the Woodruff PE Center in Atlanta, GA.

The Eagles move to 5-0-1 on the year and for WLU, it's the first loss handed to them in 2021, falling to 5-1 overall and snapping a 16-game unbeaten streak dating back to November 2019.

Junior Peyton Robertson provided the difference maker, scoring the decisive goal in the 49th minute. Classmate Kylie Hall sent a corner kick into the box where Robertson was there to head it home for her first score of the season.

The Eagles were the more aggressive team on the day, outshooting the Generals 26-11 and 9-5 in shots on goal. Senior Emma Platt made a career-high five saves as she and the Emory backline recorded their fourth straight shutout

Emory has a quick turnaround as the team travels to Birmingham, AL on Sunday for a matchup with the Panthers of Birmingham-Southern. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
