Emory Women's Soccer Plays to Scoreless Draw at NYU

The No. 18 ranked Emory University women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw Sunday afternoon with New York University at Gaelic Park in Riverdale, New York.

The tie is the first for the Eagles in University Athletic Association action this season as they move to 11-4-2 overall and 2-3-1 in the conference. With the draw, the Violets see their record go to 8-6-1 and 1-4-1 in the UAA.

The match was evenly contested as both sides combined for 23 total shots with NYU holding a narrow 12-11 advantage. The two teams each collected five shots on goal across the 110 minutes.

Junior Emma Miller made all five saves for the Eagles as she played all 65 minutes following the halftime break. The Violets' Riley Felsher tallied five stops in her 110 minutes between the posts.

Emory began the contest with four scoring chances during the opening 45 minutes but were unable to find the back of the net. They were limited to just one shot on goal for the remainder of the game, including no shots on goal in the extra time. Junior Aubrey Blanchard paced the Eagles offense with three shots and had two of the team's five shots on target.

The draw was the sixth between the two schools in the last seven meetings and the 12th time the teams have played to a tie in 26 all-time meetings.

The Eagles will be back in the northeast next Saturday, November 6th, as they venture to upstate New York to face the University of Rochester in the regular season finale.
