Women's Soccer Tops Berry, 2-0, on Labor Day

The No. 14 ranked Emory University women's soccer team closed out its opening weekend with another decisive win, defeating in-state foe Berry College by a 2-0 margin on Labor Day.

Senior Grace Reyer and freshman Katie Hungness notched scores for the Eagles with the team once again dominated possession, finishing with a 38-1 margin in total shots. Emory has now outshot its opponents 90-1 across the first two games of the season and has yet to allow a shot on goal.

Reyer opened the scoring with her first goal of the campaign in the 25th minute as she was able to finish from the top of the six off the connecting pass from graduate student Kylie Hall. The assist was Hall's third of the weekend, giving her 31 in her career as she moved into a tie for first all-time in program history.

The score remained 1-0 until late in the second half when Hungness recorded her second goal of the year as she headed in a Reyer corner kick.

Hall paced the team on the afternoon with nine shots, with three being on frame, as did freshman Kaitlyn Nimmer who tallied six total shots and three on goal.

The Eagles remain at home next weekend for a back-to-back against Guilford College and the University of Hartford on September 9th and 10th.
